WorkSafeBC’s guidance for craft breweries and distilleries covers a broad hazard landscape: mobile equipment, materials handling, machinery, work at height, hazardous chemicals, confined spaces, carbon dioxide, noise and more. A credible camera-analytics product should be clear about the part of that landscape it can observe and the parts that require other instruments and safety programs.

Entry, boundary crossing, time-in-zone and occupancy conditions defined by the customer.
Ladder context and ergonomic posture require additional models, suitable views and occlusion testing.

Where Edgentik fits today
WorkSafeBC identifies lift trucks as a common mobile-equipment hazard and notes pedestrian risk around intersections, entry and exit points, blind corners and pedestrian crossings. Those are visual and spatial conditions. With a suitable camera, Edgentik can review:
- Forklift–pedestrian proximity: where and when close shared-space interactions recur.
- Pedestrian in forklift operating zone: where and when people enter or remain in a vehicle area chosen by the customer.
- Forklift in pedestrian-protected zone: where and when a vehicle enters or remains in a defined pedestrian area.
- Restricted-zone and area conditions: entries, boundary crossings, dwell and occupancy in defined production or warehouse areas.
Edgentik can send selected events by SMS or phone, but the larger value is recurrence: identifying whether exposure clusters around a route, intersection, staging practice, operating period or shift transition.
What happens after an exposure is observed
An alert does not control a hazard. Edgentik keeps the measured condition connected to the site’s safety-control process:
- Measure and review the recurring exposure pattern.
- Record the existing controls and verify what is present and implemented.
- Have EHS and Operations review elimination or substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls and PPE—in that order.
- Assign an owner, due date and status to the selected action, and keep proof of completion.
- Verify implementation in the field.
- Check the same condition again after the action is implemented.
- Leave the maintain, refine, escalate, reopen or close decision with the employer.
This distinction matters: Tracking an action in Edgentik is not itself an administrative safety control. Training, supervision, procedures, schedules and traffic rules may be administrative controls selected by the site. The software record helps ensure the selected work is owned, evidenced and reviewed.

Edgentik does not prescribe the answer, but the observed pattern can give the employer better context for a hierarchy-of-controls review.
Where a camera is not the right instrument
Carbon dioxide and confined-space hazards are critical in breweries, but video does not measure atmospheric concentration or determine whether a confined space is safe to enter. Those hazards require dedicated gas detection, permits, procedures, training and competent site oversight. Edgentik may eventually connect to those systems; it does not replace them.
The same boundary applies to regulatory compliance, root cause, fault, worker conduct and corrective-action effectiveness. Edgentik supplies prevention evidence and documented follow-through. The employer’s safety and operations team owns the safety decision.
A practical first brewery pilot
The cleanest starting point is one existing camera covering a known interaction area—such as a warehouse crossing, production-to-packaging route, loading area or shared aisle—and one safety concern. The customer receives camera-accuracy results, a review of recurring exposure, action tracking, proof of implementation, follow-up results and a completed report.
